The 2007 Rentokil Fell League is Complete

Simon Skillicorn retained his Rentokil Fell running league title in great style winning 10 races and breaking the course records in the Carraghyn , Ellan Vannin and Reverse Creg Ny Baa races.
There was a close battle for the runner up position which was only decided in the last race of the season which resulted in Tom Cringle beating Paul Sheard by 1 point. Tom had his best ever season finishing 2nd in 6 races, he has qualified for the league 4 consecutive years improving his position each time, it will be a challenge to keep this run going. Paul won the St John`s race , had three 2nd positions and two 3rd positions.
Fourth place went to Ian Gale with one 2nd position and seven 3rd positions and fifth place went to Steve Partington with two 3rd positions and four 5th positions.
The Ladies League was won by defending champion Rose Hooton who won all 9 races she entered. This was the 12th time Rose has qualified for the league and the 7th time she has won the league , both are ladies records.
The runner up position went to Bridget Kaneen with two race wins and seven 2nd positions in her first full season on the fells. Bridget was the first local lady finisher in Manx Mountain Marathon and she broke the local ladies record for the present course.
Christine Barwell finished in third place with three 2nd positions and five 3rd positions.
The Veterans Championship was also decided in the last race of the season which resulted in Paul
Sheard beating Ian Gale by 2 points. Paul had six wins and broke the veterans course record in the St John’s race. Ian had four wins and six 2nd positions and broke the veterans course record in Glen Mona race.
The Veterans 50 championship was won for the 9th consecutive time by Dave Young who won all 8 races he entered and broke the veterans 55 course records in the Greeba and Bradda races.
The next 3 positions were also decided in the last race. Roger Moughtin beat Ian Callister to draw level on points as they both over took Richie Stevenson who was 2nd in the league before the race. Roger took the runner up place on count back as he had beaten Ian more times than Ian had beaten him. Richie who was only 1 point behind qualifying for the league for a record 20th time.
The Veterans 60 champion is Stan Sille who qualified for the league for the first time and won all 6 races he entered.
It was good to see Paul Lewthwaite, Richard George, Stephen Kennaugh and Lewis Veale qualify for the league for the first time.
