Great Opener to 07 Hill League
The 2007 Winter Hill League got off to a great start at Glen Roy yesterday. Conditions were not perfect with a blustery head wind on the 1 mile climb to the summit and turning point at John’s Cairn but the recent rain had made the going soft and the brakes could be well and truly let off on the way back down!
Simon Skillicorn, Tom Cringle and Gianni Epifani set the pace on the climb pushing each other hard to the summit. 2007 manx fell champion Simon was just first to touch and then there was no catching him as he flew down taking the victory by 30 seconds. Tom overhauled Gianni on the descent to take second with Ian Gale close on his heels after surely peeling the fastest descent of the day bagging 3rd, Gianni came in strongly in 4th.
Rachael Franklin was back at the Winter League and once again proved her strength on the hills taking the Junior victory and Ladies win from Bridget Kaneen and Christine Barwell.
It was great see some new faces trying out the manx hills, we hope to see you back for more at Peel Hill for round 2 in November.
