Final Round of Winter Hill League
The third and final round of this year’s Winter Hill League takes place on Saturday 15th December at Slieau Whallian.
The route has something for all running abilities, from flat track sections to steep hill climbs, plus some undulating bits in-between. Signing on is from 12.30pm to 1.15pm in the car park opposite the Farmer Arms in St Johns, with the race starting at 1.30pm at the entrance to the plantation at Ballaspit on the Patrick Road. Entry fees are £3 for club runners and £5 for unattached.
The race is open to juniors, with the minimum age being 12, as of 1st January 2007. The entry fee for juniors is £1. Everyone will be made most welcome at the league prize presentation after the event at The Tynwald Inn.

That photo of Rose Hooton and I was taken during the last round in 2005 in which we both battled it out over the course and Rose was ahead on the final down hill but I managed to gas past her and take my first win over Rose by 4 seconds how did I do that! Determination I’d say !
Unfortunately Rose is in need of an operation to get her back to form, hope she does soon and we can commence another battle one day but I’ll not be racing the fells for a while yet as I try for a second Island Games. I may well take part in some longer races but only use them as part of my training.
