Coniston Fell Race
Manx Fell Runners were well represented last weekend at the Coniston Fell Race. The race route started with the arduous climb of Wetherlam (2502ft) and continued along the ridge, taking in Swirl How (2637ft) and Coniston Old Man (2634ft) before returning to the picturesque village of Coniston.
The long, rocky descent off the ‘Old Man’ tested both courage & leg strength and was certainly not for the faint hearted!
Simon Skillicorn was the top MFR in 15th position, completing the 8miles & 3500ft in a time of 1 hour 20 minutes 58 seconds, closely followed by Tom Cringle in 21st position about 1 min behind.
There were good finishes too for Andy Watson, Rich Sille, Dave Griffin, Guy Wilcher, John Gray and Gareth Evans. Unfortunately Lloyd Taggart was not competing after a recent knee problem.
Keep an eye on www.manxfellrunners.org for results information.
