Did anyone measure the distance and ascent on GPS or similar?
I know I’m always at the back, but that felt a lot longer than 12 miles.
I need to do something about my navigation… I must have spent at least 20-30 minutes looking for the checkpoint at Glen Auldin. I had all but given up on it when the other three (local) fellas came across it in a matter of seconds.
Go on, give me a grain of comfort and tell me it was 15 miles and 3500′ of climbing!!!
Oh, and thanks for putting it on… I appreciate the fact that organising a race is quite an undertaking. Cheers.
I had 13.1 miles on my garmin. Not sure about climbing, but I would guess a lot!!
I got just over 13 miles too, not sure on the climbing though, it felt there was quite a bit!
Many thanks to all the marshals and officialls some of whom had quite a long day at their positions.
Thanks also to Ian and Mike for placing the punches and to the landowners and DAFF for access.

I ran 13.99 miles - took the contoured route to the bungalow before climbing snaefell. (running halfway between the tramline/road is flat with a sheep trail) It was all runnable. The only major change I’d make to my route was probably to go direct from CP 2-3 rather than the loop we ran.
That sounds similar to the route we took (we, being the final 4 finishers). Add to your 13.99 miles to my leisurely tour of Glen Auldyn looking for the checkpoint and I won’t be far off 15 miles!!
I just couldn’t see it and it was only after going up and down 4 times that the other fellas spotted it for me. It was my first time in a race with unmanned checkpoints and flags up my need to practice navigation and bit better (as well as look where I am going!).
I am planning the MMM at Easter, so need to get my act together.
Many thanks for putting on such a good race.Tougher than i expected with not many paths for Non Manxmen to follow.Hard long climbs rough heather and gorse and even a hard to find checkpoint no wonder you lot have 3 Legs!!!!
Ran the Half Manx Marathon course on Tuesday and found it a breese after this one!
Thanks again……Mike Meadowcroft / Bowland Fell Runners.
