Mist, Mud and Heather at Arthur Jones!
Posted on February 22nd, 2009 by TomC
Tough conditions today for the Arthur Jones fell race, with thick cloud over South Barrule and Cronk ny Airee Laa making navigation testing, not helped by being wet and muddy under foot!
Tom Cringle took the win by just over three minutes from Simon Skillicorn with Ben Scott taking an excellent third place. Ladies winner was Sarah Curphey having another excellent run on the fells.
Full results now available thanks to Doug Drown here
Take a look at Murray Lambden’s coverage of the race on manxathletics.com which includes a video and pictures, further photos by Tom Williams are here and photos by Sarah Cringle are available here

Hi,
Just a quick note to say thanks to all the brave and fearless marshalls organisers for taking on the mist and cold to ensure we were all OK. Cheers (kind of!) to Tom and Rich for one hell of a course. My first time around this year and they’ve certainly pitched it right in terms on having to navigate/route choices etc. Though to be honest whilst lost and floundering in heather at the back of S Barrule I was not congratulating anyone!!
Cheers!
Rich
