Thompson Takes MMM Honours

Chi Trinh and Ian Gale at North Barrule (Murray Lambden)Paul Thompson of Clayton le Moors took another fine win over the Manx Mountain Marathon held yesterday in fine sunshine.  The hotter than expected conditions with a lot of mud to contend with underfoot made the going tough for everyone.  Dan Gay from Hunters Bog Trotters took second place ahead of Brendan Bolland in third, who also took the Vet 40 honours. Leading manxman was Simon Skillicorn finishing in fourth position overall just ahead of fellow club mate and previous race winner Ian Gale.  Ben Scott wrapped up the top 6.

Jackie Lee took an excellent ladies win ahead of Dark Peaks Nicky Spinks with Isaline Hughes taking the third spot.

Top vet 50 was runner and parish walk ace Robbie Collister and the leading vet 60 award went to David Ashton.

MFR would like to thank all organisers, marshals, landowners, first aiders, civil defence, police specials, volunteers, manx timing solutions and everyone involved in the running of the MMM without which the race would not be able to go ahead.

  1. Huge thanks to everyone involved. What a fantastic day out!

I couldn’t make the presentation and was wondering if i may be able to pick up my certificate as i have an empty frame on the wall next to last years!

    Cheers, Steve.

  2. Have to echo Steve’s sentiments there… what a great day.

Put an elaborate post on the FRA forum, but the potted version is along the lines of great day; great company and thanks to all who made it happen.

I shall be back for more.

As Steve though, I had to go promptly, so would I still be able to get my certificate and T-shirt… there was a t-shirt wasn’t there?

    Cheers, Simon

  3. This was my first visit to the Isle of Man and i’ve fallen in love with it. What a fantastic race on Saturday (half mara). Weather perfect, scenery great, everyone so friendly and a well organised event. I will certainly be back - maybe next time I’ll beat Jackie’s record!!!

  5. Just to say a big thank you from both of us. We had a great time and really enjoyed the day. We had a few creaking joints and muscles on Sunday - but no gain without pain! Thank you to everyone who made it happen - especially the wonderful marshalls whose cheerful assistance and provision of drinks and food kept us going.

  6. Thank you very much to everyone involved for another great Manx MM. It was great fun (now that I have stop aching), and so well marshalled and set out throughout. Thank you for all the kind support along the way and the water/food stations. A great day to a brilliant weekend on the island.
