Time for Carraghyn

Tony Okell, Paul Lewthwaite, Mark Preston and Guy Wiltcher in 2008 (SC)The 2009 Rentokil Manx Fell League kicks into life again next Tuesday evening 12th May when the Buchanan and Pitts Carraghyn Fell Race takes place.

Starting and finishing at the northern end of Injebreck Reservoir the 2.5 mls.course is the shortest in the league, a complete contrast to the 31.5mls covered in the previous round on the Manx Mountain Marathon course.

The course may be short in distance but it is a very tough race. It’s a straightforward out and back route but  incorporates a brutal 1100ft of ascent on the first leg to the summit of Carraghyn. The return leg is not for the fainthearted as it plummets back towards the reservoir, providing a most exhilarating run. The views across the reservoir are quite stunning if you get the chance to have a look.!

Registration will be from 6.15pm until 6.45pm. Race starts at 7.00pm.

Please use the car park opposite the reservoir and do not attempt to park near the start /finish area as the road is very narrow.

A decision as to wither any safety gear will have to be carried will be decided on the night dependent on weather conditions. Please bring you gear as normal.
