The Fellsman

Rob, pictured here at the Arthur Jones Fell RaceCongratulations to Rob Sellors who finished 30th in the grueling 62 mile Fellsman last weekend in an excellent 14 hours 30 minutes, he ran the event with Dave Salter who unfortunately had to retire after 28 miles.

The super tough race held in the Yorkshire Dales was hampered with bad wet weather and high winds with 139 of the 382 starters not finishing.

The race was won by Jez Bragg in  10 hours 50 minutes with the first lady home being Sarah Rowell in 13 hours 45 minutes.

A brief summary of Rob’s experience hot of the press is below

This was probably the toughest event I’ve ever done in my running career (all 3 years of it!)
A great sense of achievement and inspite of the poor weather, knee-high peat bogs, 9 gruelling fells, tricky decents and strong winds, it was enjoyable and I never thought about not completing it.
The organisation was terrific, meal stops along the way, pasta, hot dogs, butties, toast, you name it.
I was fortunate that I only had to run the last 2 hours in the dark and by that stage I had covered all the fells and the remainder was on tracks/lanes.
Apart from aches and pains, swollen ankles, dehydration and sore shoulders (from running with a rucksack for over 14 hours) I feel fine, but definitely won’t be seeing Carraghyn summit this evening.
