North Barrule Fell Race 2009
Next race on the fell running calendar is North Barrule which will be held on 28th July starting from Ballure reservoir.
The North Barrule Fell Race will be used as a trial for the Commonwealth Fell Running Championships to be held at Keswick in September. Anyone wishing to be considered for selection should be present at this race or, if unable to attend, provide prior notice to the MFR Committee. It is proposed to take male and female teams for both the uphill only and the up & downhill races. Teams will comprise of 3 to 6 athletes, with 3 to count. Selection will be based on certain standards so it should not be assumed that full teams of 6 will be chosen. It will be possible for runners to be selected for both the uphill only and the up & downhill team, but at the selectors’ discretion.
The qualification standard for selection at NB will be <40mins for men and <48mins for ladies. Any athlete achieving the qualifying time will be considered by the selectors. It should be noted that achieving the qualifying standard will not automatically guarantee selection. Known form and appropriate fell running experience will also be used to determine selection.
Anyone not selected for the team who does still wish to run are welcome to compete in the open race which will be accepting entries on the day.

I have a feeling Borrowdale might be a little tough, easy week for me next week.
