Many thanks to all the officialls and marshals for a fantastic job in very poor conditions. It really was a tough race today. I think the number of starters, finishers and retirements speak for themselves.
Well done to all those who took part yesterday in appalling conditions, including the four of us who had to pull out before the finish!
A special thankyou to Dave Young and his wife who rescued me at Brandywell road after I retired with a twisted ankle.
A huge round of applause to all the marshalls and officials who helped us cross the roads in almost zero visibility and ensured our safety out there.

Is it true that spanish runner, Nigella Aromstrongo was demoted from 2nd to 8th for pushing other competitors over the cliffs and into the bogs.
Other rumours include that she is actually a bloke but I think that one’s a bit far fetched.
Apologies, although the above could be true! the results were incorrect, water in the system. They have now been updated and should be correct.
Thanks
Tom
This means the report I have written for the papers and the BBC website is incorrect. Sorry Nigel!
I’ll amend them and see if they can be changed before they are published.
Quite right Rob, though you’d better be careful what you say before the gender test results come out.
Ian and Sarah crossed the line together - Sarahs time being correct.
No problem Rob. Of greater concern is the interest a certain race-walker is taking in my gender testing….
