2009 IOM Bank WHL Rd 2 and Junior Fell Championships
WHL RD2
Round two of the Isle of Man Bank sponsored Winter Hill League takes place on Saturday 7th November over the same course as last year
Distance is just under 3 miles and the course will be fully marked. All runners should note that the race will start at 1.00pm with registration between 12.00pm and 12.45pm.
The Peel race is probably the most runnable in the Winter Hill League as it is on public footpaths for most of the course. It is ideal for any runner who fancies a dabble on the hills for the first time.

Registration will be from 12.45pm until 1.30pm. There will be no entry fee for the juniors.

As you’ll know, my son Fraser did well at Glen Roy. He would like to complete the “adult” winter league by competing in the senior race on Saturday, but this will preclude him from entering the U15’s race. It’s unlikely, but could the U15s run over the senior course too (like the U18s)?
The reason the under 15`s are on a shorter course for the championships is because a large percentage of the entry are, usually, complete novices to running and the near 3 miles course is a bit much for them.
I appreciate Fraser would have little problem with the full course but there again he is a talented runner.
There are two options open to Fraser. Firstly run the shorter championship course and we will work out an estimated time for him for the full course so that he can complete the league.
Secondly run the full course and forget the champs. I know it would be a disappointment for him not to have a bash at winning a Manx Championship but he would enjoy much tougher competition.
Great, thanks for the options Richie. He will appreciate the chance to both complete the league and compete in the U15 Champs. Cheers!

I’d just like to thank all those who organised the races today, and those marshalls, timers and others who made it possible. My daughters and I had a great time. Thank you all. Your efforts were appreciated.
