MMM 2010 News Update

All competitors are asked to take care in the Injebreck section. The bridge at the bottom of the descent from Carraghan is in a very poor condition. It is advised that everyone go to the left of the bridge where it is easy to cross the stream.
Competitors should also take extra care at the stream crossing after the counter checkpoint at Injebreck Farm. The rocks at this crossing are extremely slippery.

MMM Marshals

We still requre a number of marshals in order to cover this years race, details of marshal positions and people required can be found here.

If you are available to help out on the day please just email marshals@manxfellrunners.org

Insurance Details for MMM

All non Isle of Man MMM competitors should be aware that as a result of the changes in the reciprocal health agreement between the Isle of Man and the UK it is advisable that they ensure that they have adequate medical insurance to cover any potential medical care that they may receive while on the island and competing in the MMM.

We advise that everyone check there personal policies to make sure that they would be covered for any treatment required from injuries sustained from competing in a fell running competition.

MFR have made enquiries about runners from the UK and beyond taking out medical insurance while they are over here competing in the MMM.

Local independent Brokers, C Tarleton Hodgson and Son Ltd can arrange a deal with Fortis Insurance for the duration of their stay and takes into account the more hazardous activity of fell running.

Competitors can arrange this by speaking to Kim at Tarleton Hodgson on 01624 622985 or by email: enquiries@cth.co.im

MMM 2010 Part of the Vasque UC

The organising committee for next years Manx Mountain Marathon have received some great news in the past week.

Firstly Okells Brewery have agreed to continue their sponsorship of the event which, incredibly, goes back over 20 years.

Secondly the event makes a return to the Vasque Ultra Running Championships. This championship is a 12 race series that was first held in 2007. It is growing in stature each year with entries increasing considerably as more and more athletes look for new and harder challenges. For information on the series take a look here and for more info on ultra running take  a look at runfurther.com

Entry forms for next years race are now available here

MMM 2010 Entries are Now Open

The entries for the next race are now open and available on the Event Entry Forms page. The entry form download also includes the race information sheet.

If you have any questions on the event please just contact Manx Fell Runners

MMM Safety Gear

Just a reminder that full safety gear is compulsory for both the full and half MMM.  The exact requirements are the standard for all MFR races and the details can be seen here

MMM 2009 Marshals Meeting

We will be having a meeting on Tuesday the 7th April at St Georges Football Club, Glencrutchery Road, Douglas for all marshals and organisers involved with this years race.

This will be more of a get together and chat other than a formal meeting and we would like anyone who has signed up to help this year or would still like to volunteer to help to aim to come along.

If you have any questions please contact MFR.

Half MMM T-Shirts!

An apology needs to be made to anyone entered in the Half MMM who is expecting a free T Shirt.  Unfortunatly it is only the full MMM entry fee that includes a T-Shirt the half entry fee does not, the T-Shirt size box on the half MMM entry form is unfortunatly an error.

Again, apologies from MFR.

MMM Update

Runners please note that registration times at St Pauls Hall are as follows:-

Early start  6.45am until 7.15am

Late start 7.45am until 8.45am

Half MMM 11.30am until 12.15pm at car park opposite Farmers Arms St Johns

The new route to checkpoint (1) on North Barrule crosses over the back road that runs from the Hibernia to the Gooseneck. The organisers would like to ask all spectators and back-up vehicles to avoid parking on this road as it is very narrow in places and we do not want the local farmers to have any problems with access.

Would all spectators and back-up vehicles take care where they park at the Black Hut. Please park well clear of the corner on the southern side.  Also at Greeba Bridge there is little room for parking. As there are plenty of drinks available for the competitors here at the counter checkpoint we would advise all back-up vehicles and spectators to proceed to St Johns where there is ample parking.
